Gout
Gout is a type of inflammatory arthritis that arises when blood uric acid levels rise, resulting in the creation of sharp, needle-shaped crystals within the joints. These crystals trigger sudden and severe pain along with inflammation. While gout commonly impacts the big toe, it can also affect other joints such as the knees, ankles, elbows, and wrists.
Common Symptoms
Severe Joint Discomfort: Intense pain typically occurs in the big toe but can also involve other joints such as the knees, ankles, and elbows. Swelling and Inflammation: The affected joint appears swollen, red, and feels warm to the touch. Sensitivity: The joint becomes highly sensitive, making even light pressure from a bed sheet unbearable. Reduced Mobility: Movement of the affected joint may be challenging due to swelling and discomfort. Fever (in certain instances): Some individuals might experience a mild fever during a gout flare-up.
