Rheumatology is a relatively newer subspecialty of medicine. The burden of rheumatic diseases is huge and often they lead to disability or mortality at a relatively young age. Awareness about management of rheumatic diseases is lacking amongst patients as well as general physicians. My goal is to develop this speciality in West Bengal and to improve the management of patients with rheumatic diseases.
